The Power of Your Habits
A few days ago, while walking with Bella, I watched her sniff everything along the way—curious, light, completely present. She doesn’t think about yesterday or tomorrow; she simply enjoys the moment. And I thought about how hard it can be for us to do the same—to let go of what no longer serves us: habits, routines, or thoughts—and simply be.
In life, just like in nature’s cycles, there comes a time when we need to let go of what feels heavy to make space for what truly nourishes us.
This month, I invite you to reflect in two directions: What habits is it time to release? Which new ones can you begin to cultivate to strengthen your well-being?
Habits to Let Go Of
Perfectionism
Example: if you wait for the “perfect moment” to start eating healthier or exercising, that moment never comes.
Start imperfectly—but start.
Embrace progress, not perfection.Eating in a hurry
Example: put your phone away, take a breath before your first bite, and savor each texture and aroma.
Eating slowly is an act of self-love.Saying “yes” when you mean “no”
Example: if someone asks you for a favor and you’re exhausted, you can say,
“Thank you for thinking of me, but today I need to rest.”
Saying “no” with respect is a powerful form of self-care.Holding on to the past
Example: thank what it taught you and release what no longer serves you.
Living in the present frees you from emotional weight.
4 Habits That Nourish Your Well-Being
Mindful eating
Eating with awareness helps you reconnect with your body and listen to what it truly needs.
Example: turn off your phone, take a deep breath before your first bite, and taste each flavor.
Eating mindfully is a form of daily meditation.Restful sleep
Getting enough sleep is just as important as nutrition and exercise.
Example: create a nighttime ritual—soft lighting, deep breaths, gentle music.
Rest is when your body heals, balances, and renews itself.Daily gratitude
Writing down one thing you’re grateful for each day strengthens your mind and reduces stress.
Example: before bed, jot something simple:
“I’m grateful for my breath, for my food, for my peace.”
Gratitude transforms your perspective and attracts harmony into your life.Time in nature
Walking outdoors, even for just 10 minutes, helps you reconnect with yourself and ease tension.
Example: feel the sun on your skin, listen to the trees, notice the birdsong.
Nature reminds you of your natural rhythm—slow, present, and alive.
A Message for You…
You are a beautiful work in progress. You don’t need to do it perfectly—just with love.
Let go, breathe, and trust: everything blooms in its own time.
This October, release what no longer serves you and make room for what’s new. Small shifts, like the ones you see here, can transform your overall well-being.
At Amapola Healthy Living, we walk with you—helping you identify the habits you’re ready to release and the ones you want to strengthen.
